The Stone Principle: You Can’t Always Get What You Want

Don’t overthink it; which is better, to get what you want or to get what you need? It wasn’t the Rolling Stone’s song that inspired this, it was reality. I taught a yoga class from 9:00 am to 10:00am then I walked/ran about a half mile to attend a 10:30 yoga class. As I paced until the studio to open then checked my phone and saw the class was canceled. Crap I wanted a class! I am on a streak. This was to be 7 classes in 7 days. After class finished at noon, there would be cupcakes at the shop a few doors down; but they don’t open until 11:00. I headed home, remembered my post from last week and wondered about the good in this situation – a little cardio. As I thought, a woman passed me and I recognized her  purse. It was my friend Liz.  We ended up in the coffee shop across the street from the yoga studio. I got what I needed. My body needed a break though I didn’t want to admit it. A morning chat with tea was perfect. How do you feel when you get what you want? Is it a victory an everyday thing or something you don’t pay much attention to? This week, reflect on what you want and what you need; how are they the same and how are they different?
