April 5, 2025 Hands Off Protest: I’m a Black Woman, I Won’t March, I Will Cheer

It’s worldwide, it’s organized, it’s awesome. I strongly oppose the current administration. I took to the streets. I wrote post after post on the dangers of the Mango Mussolini. I listened to the GOP rallies in shock at the blatant misogynistic and racist goals expressed and I was deeply saddened and shocked that people who would not consider themselves racist, sexist or stupid could support the vision of the current Cheeto in Chief. After more than 100 former national security officials from Republican administrations and former Republican members of Congress signed a letter to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris after concluding Donald Trump, is “unfit to serve again as president,” I naively thought, Mr Trump will not win the election. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I am a black woman and 92% of us voted against the Fanta Fascist. I marched to the polls and voted; you won’t see me on Saturday. Let me tell you why.

More than half of the countries on Trump’s current list for travel bans are African countries, you remember, he wanted to stop immigrants from Africa, the infamous shithole countries incident. As a black woman, I am in a country that does not want me and I am a target. The Pumpkin Spice Palpatine sees me as a DEI hire and product of woke liberal leftist. During the Black Lives Matter protests, 45, Mr. Trump wanted the protestors shot!

According to CNN, Trump highlighted footage of confrontations between law enforcement officers and protesters and said: “That’s how you’re supposed to handle these people. Crack their skulls!”

Trump also reportedly told law enforcement and military leaders he wanted the military to “beat the fuck out” of protesters and said: “Just shoot them.”

Bender reports that in the face of opposition from Milley and the then attorney general, William Barr, Trump said: “Well, shoot them in the leg – or maybe the foot. But be hard on them!”

Milley is also reported to have told Stephen Miller, a senior Trump adviser, to “shut the fuck up”, after Miller said “cities are burning” amid protests prompted by the murder of George Floyd by a police officer in Minneapolis last May.

Throughout a tense summer, Trump threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act, a historic piece of legislation regarding domestic unrest, but ultimately did not do so.

Trump told top US general to ‘just shoot’ racism protesters, book claims

The guardrails are off now. When a Fox News host can become Secretary of Defense and sends text messages unsecured, nah, hard pass for me. Diaper Don signed and executive order Making the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful on March 27, 2025. It’s somewhat legally ambiguous, but enough to give attention to 3.C. (iv) that allows them to detain people for longer if there is concern that the person may be “dangerous” aka they can just make claims. The order specifically talks about detaining to the maximum extent of the law. This order is for DC, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is federal. Given the current administration’s purposeful disregard for judicial rulings and due process; this is not good.

Boston is cool, I fear what orders the ICE capades will follow. The most recent data suggests the IRS is still focused on the middle class; 63% of new audits targeted taxpayers with income of less than $200,000. Only a small overall share reached the very highest earners, while 80% of audits covered filers earning less than $1 million. Basically, the IRS goes after those where they can most likely get the money as the wealthy will lawyer up. Alas, the same potential with law enforcement. Therefore, me as a black woman makes me a target. There is no worry that I have access to power or any source that could have a punitive impact.

Nah, I won’t be there. You broke it, you fix it. My people, as a voting block voted more unified than any other demographic. This is a protest for white folks and Latinos to show up for and convince your people and elected government officials of your concerns.

The goal of the protest is to express concern and to get the current administration to stop current policy with the items listed. The precursor has been the outrage at town halls. But, rather than address the concerns of the people, this:

The chair of the House GOP’s campaign arm told Republican lawmakers Tuesday to stop holding in-person town halls amid a wave of angry backlash over the cuts undertaken by President Donald Trump’s administration.

Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.), the NRCC chair, delivered the message inside a closed-door meeting of House Republicans, according to three people granted anonymity to describe the private remarks.

No more in-person town halls, NRCC chief tells House Republicans

The GOP response, Just stop, don’t hold town halls and blame the disruption on the woke leftest democrats as the source of the ruckus. Look, I’m all for it. I’ve done phones calls, mailed pink slip post cards and sent emails to express concern. But I know my sphere of influence and Saturday poses more of a danger to me than a help to you. After all, Trump lifted the ban on racial segregation. Did you miss that one?

There are some who applaud the cuts of Muskrat/Doge. Sadly, dwindling attention spans have implied a reality that isn’t there. The idea is makes cuts and it benefits us, but how? If waste is cut from the government, where does the money go? Clean up the last of the pipes in Flint Michigan (yes, that is still not done yet) or maybe provide internet connectivity in the mid west to places that don’t have it, perhaps provide housing for homeless veterans. Well stop it, that’s won’t happen. The plan is tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations, all that money saved thru the cuts will be used to balance the budget when tax breaks are given.

From here on, as a country, we will be forever changed. This week consider, what does that change look like and how will it come.

  1. I just came from the anniversary of the Selma Bloody Sunday March. They continued to march, although it seemed a lost cause. Three times before they made it to Montgomery. The fact that more Blsck people voted means that / as occurred in Montgomery after the bombing, more other people need to join the fight. They marched. So will I
