It All Adds Up – Winter Math, Variables and Thoughts

Winter Math – The 15 Degree Solution – Plus Gloves & Hat

My friend Barb’s mother said, there is no bad weather, just bad clothing choices. Hence, I devised winter math. My clothes/layers have a numerical temperature value. All I have to do is take the outside temperature and add layers to the desired inside temperature. For example, on Wednesday the outside temperature will be 15 degrees. I typically use a goal temperature of 65 degrees. Wednesday is a 50 degree differential. Winter math is a puffer coat @ 25 degrees, light puffer coat @ 15 degrees and hoodie @ 10 degrees. Add a hat for any temperature below freezing, below 25 degrees, layer gloves with mittens and a scarf for strong winds. I have variables for rain or snow and then there is footwear – rain versus snow. I know, people think, what goes on in my head? This is what goes on, numbers. I look for patterns, numbers, formulas, some kind of predictive analysis. This week, consider what goes on in your head. Pause for a moment and think. Now, if your thoughts are a neighborhood, is it a good place to visit?

  1. A good pair of woolen knee socks does wonders. And if you go from a warm to a cold location your wardrobe definitely needs adjusting. I didn’t have anything to “layer” anymore.

  2. Winter Silks – including glove liners! Since I acquired a Pokemon Go habit, I also have outer gloves with fingertips that I can use with my phone (so I don’t have to take off my gloves to use my phone).
