It Happened This Week: Giddy with Relief

Thank you. My brother’s kidney transplant was last week with a live donor was successful. The donor was a stranger. Words can’t begin to express the appreciation for the altruism of a stranger who wanted to do this. There is a lot involved in organ transplants.

The National Organ Transplant Act allows organ recipients to pay for their living donors’ travel, lodging, and lost wages in connection with the donation.

The “A Kidney for Daniel,” GoFundMe was set up in April with no identified donor and a guess at expenses and wages. I am humbled and grateful for all those who donated and a special thanks for the readers who donated last week. The target was under and the amount raised last week was almost exactly the final total. THANK YOU.
