Three Strikes, Two Reactions, One Week

Statistically, last week was a crappy one. I’ve written 588 blog posts and last week got the lowest views ever, the only one ever in single digits, 6. My consignment account is even more dismal, one piece sold only to be returned. Finally, a 14 hour soujourn to Nantucket to teach a yoga class where no one attended. So, in addition to a bout of illness that has left me couch ridden for four days, I’m rethinking everything. If this were a ball game, I’ve struck out. While I take this week as time to reflect, our idiot in chief this week, fired Erika McEntarfer, the commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The president insists, the jobs numbers reported this week, which reflected a significant slowdown in growth, had to have been rigged. That’s lunacy. That’s like throwing out the scales because you don’t like how much you weigh. Oh, but this is Donald J Trump; no detail to petty, no lie to big.

In April 2023, when Trump was charged in New York with 34 felony counts, he “self reported” he was 6 feet and 2 inches tall and weighed 240 pounds. In August 2023, Trump surrendered at Fulton County Jail in Atlanta on charges of plotting to overturn the state’s 2020 election results. Those records had him at 6 feet and 3 inches tall and 215 pounds. But wait, there is more, Trump’s physical in April of this year, 2025, he was listed as 6 feet and 3 inches tall with a weight of 224 pounds. This week, Trump was photographed beside 6′ 4″ Harrison Butker and that height differential, well it was a lot more than one inch. Yet, here we are, a leader who is allowed to self report and distort verifiable fact to support his delusions. This was no where more evident than the falsehood ridden demand by Karoline Leavitt to award Trump a Nobel Peace Prize.

Alas, since I may never write again, I end with this brilliant piece: Why Trump Should Never Win the Nobel Peace Prize | Vantage With Palki Sharma

  1. Hi Sheila! Sending hugs as we all navigate this crazier than normal world. I fear that people are choosing to disconnect or shut down because everything happening is just so dang depressing and seemingly hopeless. I want to let you know I always enjoy reading your blog as often as I can in my Nana era. Your words and perspective are important and wise. So please keep writing and I hope you feel better soon!

  2. Dear Sheila P.

I read and appreciate and sometimes even agree with Bous Bous every week and would be sad for it to stop. I also admire the commitment to the very consistent publishing schedule.

That said, I get it. There are ways to channel that curiosity and furious intellect that don’t require the weekly grind. If you choose to continue to share your thoughts in a public manner, I’m in, whatever form that may take.

I mean, we’ve come this far.

    Michael

  3. I read them! I think history and story telling are important so keep ‘em coming. I know it’s hard to stay positive these days, and think some people are just trying to figure out this new world and struggling to find “balance.” I would attend your yoga class. 😉
