Whenever I have a broken car light, I notice all the other cars with broken lights. I know, this isn’t some strange coincidence; it’s because I am looking for it. In metaphysical terms, “what you think about, you bring about.” Then there is the latest trend of extra long eyelashes. They are not my thing, the lashes seem to impair vision. One friend described how he told the woman he was dating how unattractive he found the lashes. Well, it didn’t matter, she continued to wear them. Why these two topics? That’s the political climate for me in this moment.

Some people like what’s happening now and others don’t; it’s kind of like those lashes. People can clearly see what they look like and the look is what they want. No one is beholden to change their fashion sense because I don’t think it is reasonable or flattering. To date, no one has asked me, do these lashes look good on me?
As far as the car lights go, I realize I’m hyper aware of politics and policy. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, until I use everything as proof of negativity. It’s a reminder that a of lot of this was already in place. This isn’t to say don’t act. Just like a broken car light, you get it fixed. The idea is not to focus on everything to validate doom and gloom. You will go mad or into a depression. The words, “well what can you do,” aren’t great either, that’s resignation.

The house passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act) last week and it is headed for the senate. A portion of the population thinks it is needed and a good policy. It’s a little like trying to sway the hearts and minds of those who have embraced the super long fake lashes. There is no data that shows non US citizens voting, the SAVE act is under the guise of illegal votes are cast. That doesn’t seem to be enough to influence opinion. However, with the SAVE Act, you can have an impact on those who have the power to pass or reject the act; to answer, what can you do?” contact your senator.
The SAVE Act would require you to show proof of citizenship matching your current legal name in order to register to vote or to update your voter registration following a move, name change, or change in party registration. For most citizens, proof of citizenship means a birth certificate or a U.S. passport. But for 69 million married women across the United States who took their spouses’ last name, their current legal name does not match the name on their birth certificate. In Pennsylvania alone, an estimated 2.86 million women do not have a birth certificate that matches their current legal name.
This week be aware if you accidentally see the negative. Many people who marched on April 5th expressed how good it felt to be surrounded by like minded people. Great. Now, be aware of what you can do. In some cases, it’s making phone calls to your representatives. Yes, on any given day, it can feel like a free fall off a cliff. Avoid the words of resignation, “wha can you do?” You have options, take action when you can and turn it off when you can’t. Try it for a week.
this is so important! Thank you!
