It’s easy going to events by myself. I’m surrounded by people who want to be there. About 80% of the time, there is someone who is going to chat and share the experience. I like those odds. When I saw Cécile McLorin Salvant, the gentleman next to me oohed and aahed through out the performance. At the end when I turned to him to say, you were a joy to sit beside, we both burst into tears. Ballads and East and West features the art of Raqib Shaw. The paintings are intricate, intense and stunning. The opening was this week and featured an interview with the artist. At the end of the interview, the woman next to me and I talked for 15 minutes. We’d seen the work, heard the artist, felt the moment. Live events are amazing and the ability to share the awe and wonder is special. Last Sunday was the Super Bowl and on Monday, be it the commercials, the halftime show or the game itself, many of us shared the experience on Monday.
My guilty pleasure s listening to you tubers review reality tv shows. I realize its the same kind of thing, a way to share. You know how you watch something and need to talk. I get a different point of view, sometimes something I missed is highlighted and other times it’s just a good laugh. One YouTuber, Tammy Talks used the term “Cheerleaders & Haters” to describe parents. I smiled and felt great, my parents were definitely cheerleaders. I have no experience with “hateration at a parental level. We got constructive feedback, I delivered side eye on more than one occasion, but there was never hate from my parents. I took cheerleading parents for granted; isn’t that what they do? I am ever so grateful for cheerleading parents now.

My mom’s birthday was February 2nd, she would be 103 if she were still alive, yet some how she still is thru my memories. “Cheerleaders and Haters.” What’s your inner circle look like? If it’s not all cheerleaders, consider why? Any changes needed?
OK, y’all know I’m all into the live events here in Boston…..but this one, with a splatter zone —nah, that’s ok.

Nice!

Interesting to think that some people can be cheerleaders, others can be haters, and some people (narcissists?) can be both, leaving a person confused
